FOODS TO EAT IN SUMMER

               And here comes the Summer which is full of childhood memories as it's the only period where our laziness is respected and all our naughty actions are accepted by our family. Counting stars at night by sleeping outdoors, family meetings, vacations are the best part of summer. Also there are many changes in our lifestyle due to change in climatic conditions. Most importantly changes are related to clothes and food. So start reorganizing wardrobes, kitchen and give a fresh start to the summer season.

               In summer, due to overheat in our body, we encounter many problems like thirst, constipation, sunburns, red eyes, cold sores around mouth, ulcers in mouth, headaches etc. To take proper care of our body, we should include food that suits our body in this hot climate. Lets discuss about foods that are essential to our body in summer to support us mentally and physically.

Watermelon- It is rich in water content which helps to keep our body cool and hydrated. It is rich in amino acids keeping our blood vessels relaxed  and improve circulation. So, it is advisable to have watermelon juice before workout. It contains many antioxidants removing free radicals in our body helping to lower the stress of dealing asthma. As it is very rich in water content, it helps in constipation. We can have watermelon in the form of juice, salad or smoothies. But to extract the maximum ingredients that are necessary to our body, it is advisable to consume directly.
Super greens- These comes in summer to save your skin. Greens like wheat grass, barley grass, leafy vegetables are highly nutritious and helps in detoxifying. Carotenoids are the organic pigments produced by plants which converts to Vitamin A in our body and protects skin from sun damage. It decreases sensitivity to UV rays. We can have these greens in the form of smoothies for breakfast. 
Strawberries and Blueberries- These are high in flavonoids which are powerful disease fighters. It decreases sensitivity to light and improves the texture of skin. 
Green Tea- Green Tea is rich in antioxidants and reduces free radicals in our body. It helps in increasing the skin protection from harmful UV rays and improves skin elasticity.  It boosts in oxygen delivery to our skin. As we all know that intake of green tea helps in impacting gut microbiome to promote weight loss, it also improves mental clarity and boosts immune system. 
Nuts and Seeds- Nuts like almonds, cashews, peanuts, walnuts contains healthy fats lowering bad cholesterol levels. Water melon seeds, Sesame and chia seeds water helps in cooling the temperature in our body. It is advisable to consume nuts by dissolving them in water overnight. Also Methi seeds with water is the best drink to lower diabetes levels.  After drinking water of these seeds, chew them to get more benefits.
Fruits- According to Ayurveda, fruits like bananas, watermelon, strawberries, kiwi and apricot are cold foods. These help in maintaining body temperature which varies due to hot sun and clears up intestinal heat. Try to have one fruit daily to keep you away from any diseases causing in summer and to maintain good body temperature. 
Tomato- We all know how tomatoes help in maintaining healthy skin. It is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, main ingredient for good skin texture. It is packed with vitamins and minerals. It contains Vitamin B and  Potassium which helps in reducing cholesterol levels and lowering blood pressure. 
Milk Products- Milk products like cream, cheese and yogurt have good cooling effect on body. They instantly cools temperature in your intestine, adding moisture. It improves digestion and strengthens immune system. 
Coconut Water- No summer is complete without having coconut water. It is a nutritious drink with high amounts of electrolytes including Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium which are crucial for body. It has essential minerals to maintain healthy metabolism and body temperature.
